A normal valid driving license category B* is required to drive our campervans, and the driver must be over 18 years old. For short- and medium-term rentals, no international license is required. Also, the driver's license must be valid for automatic and manual transmission RVs.
Exception for Non-European Citizens:
Non-European citizens traveling in Italy, Austria, and Greece must have an international driving permit. However, it's important to note that even with an IDP, you should carry your own country driver's license as well.
Important Considerations:
-
Indie Campers does not assist in obtaining the International Driving Permit (IDP).
-
We do not assume responsibility in the case of reservations being made without a qualified driver. Therefore, when planning to use our services, you are responsible for ensuring, in coordination with local traffic authorities or consulates, the validity of your driver's license at your travel destination.
*Please make sure that your driver’s license matches the weight of the vehicle you are renting.

Hi! I am have a California driver license and want to rent a camper van in Switzerland. Do I need any special license or international license to drive a camper van in Switzerland? Can I just rent one with my California driver license?
