Winter tires, also known as snow tires, are specifically designed to better perform when driven in snowy and icy conditions. Winter tires, also known as snow tires, have a tread design with larger gaps than those on conventional tires to increase traction with the road. Studded tires have metal or ceramic studs that protrude from the tire to increase traction on hard-packed snow or ice. The only Indie Campers location where studded tires are fitted is Reykjavik in Iceland. Both types of tires should only be used in winter. All-season tires have tread gaps that are smaller than snow tires and larger than conventional tires. They are quieter than winter tires on clear roads.
