4.1 We may require you to provide us with the information necessary for identity verification and for the detection of money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud or other financial crimes. This processing is based on the legal obligations to which we are subject and on the performance of the contract with you, and we may keep a record of that information. 4.2 The following personal data is collected in the customer/user registration:
- At registration: name and email;
- When making a booking: name, phone number, country of residence, date of birth, address, city, postal code and fiscal number.
4.3 If you proceed with hiring a rental or other Service from us, we may be required to make the inquiries, whether directly or through third parties, that we consider appropriate to verify your identity or to protect you and us against fraud or other financial crimes, and to take the action we reasonably deem necessary based on the results of such inquiries.
4.4 The following data may be obtained through navigation on the Website: IP address, type of device, browser and version, login and account information (including username), marketing preferences, and cookies, flags and web tags (pixels).
5. Purposes of the Processing
We will process your personal data, manually and/or automatically, for the following purposes:
5.1 Contractual relationship management: Your personal data is processed for the purpose of managing the contractual relationship, namely for:
- Pre-contractual procedures;
- Reservation of your booking;
- Signing of the vehicle rental contract (without driver);
- Rental monitoring;
- Invoice management and management of fee payments;
- Management of fines, in particular in relation to communications with competent authorities;
- Management of potential complaints;
- Management of compensation for potential damage to the vehicle and insurance management;
- Post-rental communications within the scope of the rental contract or the evaluation of its performance and customer satisfaction;
- Customer support, through text messages, phone or video calls, emails or other available means.
5.2 Marketing: If you consent, we may also process your data for the purposes of sending you information and news about our events, campaigns, special offers, products and services, through any communication channel, namely email, text messages (SMS) or postal mail.
5.3 Customer Reviews and Testimonials: We value the feedback of Travellers and believe in sharing authentic experiences to help others make informed decisions. To this end, we may publicly display reviews collected through our check-out survey. The specific information shared includes the following:
- Name: we will only use the first name and the initial of the surname of the Traveller (e.g., GUILHERME F.). This approach helps maintain a level of anonymity while still providing a personal touch to the review.
- Age: the age of the reviewer will be presented in ten-year intervals. This allows potential Travellers to relate to reviews from individuals in similar life stages, without compromising privacy. For example, a Traveller aged 25 will be shown in the 20–29 years old category.
- Location: to provide context for the review, we will include the city of check-in and the city of check-out (e.g., Lisbon → Barcelona). This information helps future Travellers understand the route and context of the trip being reviewed.
- Review date: the date on which the review was submitted will be displayed. This ensures transparency about the recency of the feedback, allowing users to consider the timeliness of the experience described.
- Number of Travellers: we will indicate the number of people who travelled together. This categorization helps potential Travellers understand whether the review is from an individual traveller, a couple, a small group, or a larger party.
- Trip duration: the length of the trip will be shown in exact duration. This information provides insights into the nature and scope of the trip.
We ensure that all Traveller reviews and associated data are collected with explicit consent as outlined in this Privacy Policy. Reviews and data may be displayed on our website and other platforms for a duration of one year or longer, depending on their relevance and applicability. We are committed to respecting the privacy of Travellers while sharing valuable insights; this data is therefore carefully curated to maintain anonymity where possible, while still providing useful information to our community.
5.4 Insurance: We share personal information with our insurance providers, which allows you to take out insurance for a specific rental. Insurers need access to basic information about the policyholder and the insured object in order to issue and administer the requested insurance. Information is only passed on to the insurer if you apply for insurance. Complete information about the insurers’ processing of personal data can be found on their own websites.
5.5 Mobile Data Services (when the service is available): We share some of your personal information (email address) with our mobile data providers, which allows you to use eSIMs during your rental, giving you the opportunity to have Internet coverage during your trip with us. The mobile data providers need access to your email address in order to issue the eSIMs and link them to your trip. Your information (email) is only passed on to the mobile data provider if you request a service that includes the provision of an eSIM. For complete information on the processing of personal data by mobile data providers, please consult their own websites.

- Anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF): in certain situations, we may need to process personal data to conduct identity verification and due diligence to comply with AML and CTF regulations.
5.7 Geolocation: Protection of Users and vehicles by means of geolocation, as detailed in clause 6 below.
6. Geolocation Data Processing
6.1 The data relating to geolocation via GPS services, geofencing and live map implemented in our vehicles and RVs, as well as other telematics technology, may be used and processed for the following purposes:
- Ensuring the safety of those being transported, as in cases of emergency the knowledge of the exact location of the vehicle, and consequently of the passengers, may be a decisive factor;
- Ensuring the security of the vehicle itself, alerting in situations of theft or robbery, as well as in situations of mechanical failure;
- Ensuring contractual compliance between the parties, namely in situations where a party is not authorized to travel to certain territories or to travel more than a certain number of kilometres/miles, as well as complaint management.
6.2 We may use in-car data systems to collect data about the condition and performance of the vehicle through the following technologies: AdBlue levels; mileage; regressive counters; DTC codes; connection to CAN; notifications; battery reaching minimum tension; temperature rising above a certain level; API; possibility of stopping the vehicle remotely; data import and export capabilities; and fleet management systems.
6.3 The use of telematics during a rental is further described in the clause “Electronic Communications, Telematics Notice, and Release” of the applicable Rental Agreement.
7. Lawfulness
Your data is processed lawfully, as stated above for each type of processing, most especially because the processing at stake is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party, for pre-contractual steps taken at your request, or to comply with legal obligations to which we are subject. Where consent is the legal basis for a particular processing of personal data, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. 9. Storage Period
We keep your data only for the period strictly necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and, as a general rule, for no more than 3 years. Personal data may, however, be kept for longer periods where this is required to comply with legal obligations to which we are subject (such as tax, accounting or anti-money laundering requirements) or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, in which case it will be kept only for as long as necessary for those purposes.
10. Third Parties
We may communicate your personal data to third parties, service providers of the Indie Campers Group, namely service providers in matters of IT support. These companies are provided only with the personal data necessary for the provision of their service and undertake to process such personal data solely and exclusively for the fulfilment of the purposes indicated above. Likewise, the processing of user data may be carried out by a suitable service provider hired by us. The service provider will process data exclusively for the purposes established by us, in accordance with our instructions and in strict compliance with the law. 11.2 Where data is collected and first processed in the EEA, we will not transfer your data to entities located in countries outside the EEA, unless required by law or subject to the appropriate safeguards referred to above.
