To make things simpler and clearer for everyone, we’ve introduced a new way to organize our campervan models on the Indie Campers website. If you've already made a booking and are seeing a different name or category than when you booked—don’t worry, nothing about your trip is changing. The only change is the way we present our vehicle lineup.
Why This Change?
We used to have 40+ different campervan models with names like “Wrangler,” “Nomad,” or “Atlas 5.” While each was awesome in its own way, many of them were actually very similar in size, layout, and features—just with different names.
Now, we’re grouping them into five easy-to-understand categories based on the type of travel experience they offer. Each category then includes a few variations (like Compact or Family) to help you better compare vans across regions and seasons.
🆕 The New Categories
New Category | Best For | Previous Models You Might Know |
Adventure | Camping under the stars with a bit of comfort | Wrangler, Maverick, Jogger, Jimny |
California | Road trip legends and iconic campers | VW California, Metris, Marco Polo |
Active | Easy-to-drive, compact campers | Nomad, Seeker, Outback |
Comfort | Spacious family vehicles or long-haul road trips | Atlas, Quest, Four Winds |
Trailer | Towable travel options | New towable models (US only) |
So, for example:
- If you booked a Wrangler, your booking is now part of the Adventure Tent category.
- If you booked an Atlas 5 Auto, it’s now under the Comfort Standard category.
🛠️ What Has Changed for You?
Nothing in your booking has changed.
- Your van is still the same model you originally selected.
- Your trip dates, features, price, and experience stay exactly the same.
- We’ve just renamed how we group our vans on the website to make things easier to understand for all customers.
You may notice:
- A new category name in your booking details (e.g., “Adventure Tent” instead of “Wrangler”).
- A new representative model name in the gallery or offer page.
- A small “or similar” badge, which acknowledges small layout or finish differences between vans from different manufacturers (but with the same layout/features).
🔍 Why This Helps
We’ve made these changes to:
- Simplify the booking experience
- Help you compare similar models more easily
- Ensure better consistency across regions (so a Comfort van in the US or Europe feels the same)
- Make future trips with us even smoother
✅ What You’ll Still Get
Every listing on our website still includes:
- A full gallery with images, video, and floor plans
- A clear description of the layout and travel experience
- All included features organized by category (e.g., solar panel, heating)
