- Winter tires, also known as snow tires, are specifically designed to better perform when driven in snowy and icy conditions. These tires have a tread design with larger gaps than those on conventional tires to increase traction with the road.
- Studded tires have metal or ceramic studs that protrude from the tire to increase traction on hard-packed snow or ice. The only Indie Campers location where studded tires are fitted is Reykjavik in Iceland. Both types of tires should only be used in winter.
- All-season tires have tread gaps that are smaller than snow tires and larger than conventional tires. They are quieter than winter tires on clear roads.
