How to Report an Accident and Submit Your Accident Declaration (DA)

If something happens to your campervan during your trip, whether an accident, damage or theft, you can report it in a few minutes from your Client Area. Submitting your Accident Declaration (DA) is what keeps your Protection Plan active for that incident, so it is worth doing straight away.

In short

  • Report every incident, even minor scrapes and dents.
  • Deadline: within 2 days of the incident, or by your drop-off date, whichever comes first.
  • No DA means no coverage, and you may have to pay for the repair.
  • Where: Client Area > My Trip > Report Incident

1. First, make sure everyone is safe

  • If anyone is hurt or in danger, call the local emergency services before doing anything else.
  • For accidents and theft, notify the local police as soon as you can, and keep the report or reference number they give you.
  • Do not admit fault or accept responsibility at the scene.

2. Check whether you need to report

You should report any incident involving your vehicle, including:

  • An accident with another vehicle or object
  • Single-vehicle damage, scrapes or dents
  • Theft or attempted theft
  • Any damage, even if it looks minor and the van is still drivable

Not sure? Report it. Even when no one else was involved and the damage seems small, you need a DA for that incident to stay covered.

3. Open your declaration

  1. Open your Client Area and go to My Trip.
  2. Find the "Damaged your vehicle?" card and tap Report Incident.
  3. Tap Start to begin your Accident Declaration.

4. Fill in the form

The form has six short steps and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. It saves automatically, so you can pause and pick up where you left off from My Trip at any time.

Have this ready before you start:

Accident details When, where and what happened
Driver details Who was driving, license and contact information
Third party details Other people and vehicles involved, if any
Photos The damage and the scene
Additional details Speed, road signs, lights and signals
Signatures Yours, and the other party's where possible
One accident, one declaration. If a single accident caused several pieces of damage, for example the bumper, a headlight and a side panel, include them all in the same DA. They belong to one accident and are covered by one declaration.

5. Take clear photos

Your photos are the proof that supports your report. Please include:

  • A close-up of each damaged area
  • A wide shot of the whole vehicle and its surroundings
  • The other vehicle, including its number plate
  • The road, signs and wider scene

Tip: shoot in good light and check that any number plates are readable before you move on.

6. If another party is involved

Ask the other party for their details and, where possible, their signature on the declaration. If they refuse, simply note that in the declaration.

In situations such as a hit-and-run, a refusal to cooperate, or an injury, contact the police and keep the report or reference number.

When to submit

Submit your DA as soon as you can, and no later than 2 days after the incident or by your drop-off date, whichever comes first.

Why it matters

Your Protection Plan covers damage only when there is a valid DA on file.

  • With a complete DA: the related damage stays eligible for coverage under your plan, whether Basic, Standard or Premium.
  • Without a DA: that damage will not be covered and you may be responsible for the repair costs. A fee may also apply if we find damage when you return the vehicle and no DA is on file.

Reporting takes only a few minutes and protects you, so please submit your DA for any accident before you return the vehicle.
