How do you clean the vans?

How your campervan is cleaned depends on who hosts it. If your van is part of the Indie Campers fleet, it goes through a thorough three-phase cleaning process between every rental. If it's a Marketplace van, cleaning is handled by your host.

For Indie Campers fleet vans, here's what happens before you pick up:

Phase 1 — Disinfect on return. As soon as a traveler drops the van off, it's fully disinfected with a sprayer and a strong cleaning detergent.

Phase 2 — Deep clean before the next pick-up. When we prepare the van for you, a disinfectant deep-clean is applied again by hand, with particular attention to the surfaces people touch most — door handles, light switches, and the steering wheel.

Phase 3 — General clean and final check. Once disinfection is done, the van gets a full general clean inside and out. After a final inspection, it's given a "clean & safe, ready-to-go" sign — that's your signal it's passed every stage.

Extras and kits get the same treatment. Rental extras — tables, chairs, surfboards, and the rest — are cleaned and disinfected before they go into your van. Portable toilets, bedding, cleaning kits, and kitchen kits are deep-cleaned, checked, and given their own clean & safe sticker.
