If you are driving a vehicle owned by the Indie Campers fleet and are involved in an accident, follow these steps to ensure your insurance claim is valid.
1. Document the Damage (DAA Form)
The Damage Assessment Agreement (DAA) is the most critical document. It allows the insurance company to determine liability.
Physical Copy: A printed version of the DAA is generally provided in the glovebox of your van at the start of your rental. This is often the easiest way to gather signatures if a third party is present.
-
Digital Form: If you cannot find the physical copy, or if you find it more convenient to type the details, you can use the digital links below.
2. Mandatory Reporting Checklist
To process a claim, you must submit the following via the Indie Campers Webform or to depot personnel:
Document |
Why it’s required |
| Personal Statement | A written account of how the incident happened in your own words. |
| Photos | Clear shots of all sides of the van and any other vehicles involved. |
| Completed DAA | Must be signed by both parties if a third party was involved. |
| Third-Party Info | Name, ID/Driver’s License, Email, License Plate, and Policy Number. |
| Police Report | Mandatory for most claims, even if you have a signed DAA. |
3. Timeline & Resolution
Duration: Claims often take several months. This is dictated by the insurance provider's investigation, not Indie Campers.
Communication: You will receive an email notification as soon as a final decision is reached.
Protection Plans: For a breakdown of what your specific plan covers (Basic, Premium, or VIP), visit the Protection Plans page.
4. Marketplace Bookings
If you booked a van from a private host (not Indie Campers directly), the process is different:
Direct Management: You must handle the claim directly with your host.
Procedures: Follow the host’s specific reporting instructions. If the host uses Indie Campers’ partner insurance (like Omocom or Riverside), they will guide you on using the relevant claim portal.
Security Deposit: Your host is responsible for managing the security deposit and any deductions related to the incident.
Always take photos of the vehicle at pick-up and drop-off, even if there is no accident. This acts as your "insurance" against pre-existing damage disputes!
