Suspicious messages or emails
A legitimate Indie Campers email, notification or message will never ask for your bank account information, credit card numbers, password, or Social Security number. It will never claim that Indie Campers will close your account if you don’t confirm, verify, or authenticate your personal information via messages. It will never claim that we need to confirm important information via email due to system upgrades. If you receive suspicious messages or emails, forward the entire email to marketplace@indiecampers.com. Don’t alter the subject line or forward the message as an attachment. Don’t click on any links or download any attachments. Delete the suspicious email from your inbox.
What to watch out for when it comes to fraudulent messages:
- Don't click or open suspicious links: spam is sometimes spread through clicking bad links or installing malicious software to get access to your personal information.
- Don't wire money to a potential host outside the platform: Never proceed with wire transfers nor payments outside Indie Campers website. If you receive notification to make payments outside the platform do not respond and flag the fraudulent messages on marketplace@indiecampers.com or contact us, immediately.
- Never message or email Host outside the Indie Campers platform: You should never contact a potential host outside the Indie Campers platform, especially if they ask you to first. Even if a host's profile is verified, their account may be hacked; a sure sign of this is if they want to communicate off the Indie Campers platform.
