What is Oil and Why is it Important?
Oil is essential for keeping the engine of your rental vehicle running smoothly. It lubricates the engine’s moving parts, helps prevent overheating, and reduces wear and tear. Proper oil levels ensure optimal vehicle performance and prevent potential damage.
What to Expect When Renting a Vehicle?
At the start of your rental, the vehicle will be provided with an oil level between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick, ensuring there is no oil warning light on the dashboard.
What Are the Traveler’s Responsibilities?
As part of your rental agreement (Section 13.5), you are responsible for taking reasonable steps to properly maintain the vehicle during your trip, including:
- Checking oil levels daily to ensure they remain between the minimum and maximum levels.
- Monitoring dashboard warning lights - if the oil warning light appears, you must stop driving immediately and check the oil level.
- Refilling oil if necessary to maintain safe levels. The cost of oil refills is covered by the traveler unless a mechanical failure causes excessive oil consumption.
- Informing the Rental Firm if there are any issues or concerns regarding oil levels.
What Happens at Vehicle Return?
The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, with the oil level between the minimum and maximum marks and no oil warning light on. Failure to do so may result in additional charges.
