Generator Policy: Usage and Charges

Certain vehicle models in our fleet may be equipped with a built-in generator or supplied with a mobile generator. This is offered as an optional extra at the time of booking. The generator is used to power on-board appliances, including the air conditioning system. Please note that the fuel consumed by the generator is strictly at your own expense and is not included in the rental price.

The generator policy applies to all bookings where a generator was added as an extra.

How are the charges calculated?

If you choose to add a generator to your booking, the billing consists of two separate fees that apply cumulatively:

  • Generator Access Fee: A flat fee charged per night of your rental for having the generator allocated and made available to you. This rate is communicated to you during the booking process.
  • Generator Usage Fee: A fee charged per hour of actual generator use, as set out in our official Fee Document.

How do we measure your usage?

Generator use is accurately tracked by a running-time meter (autonomy hours) installed in the vehicle.

  • At Pick-Up: The initial meter reading is recorded, documented on the first page of your rental agreement, and supported by photographic evidence. You will acknowledge and confirm this initial reading by signing the rental agreement.

  • At Return: The meter is checked and photographed again.

Your total hourly Generator Usage Fee is calculated based solely on the difference between the reading registered at return and the reading registered at pick-up.

Fuel Responsibilities & Penalties

You are responsible for any refueling the generator requires during your trip. It is crucial that you only use the correct fuel type.

⚠️ Important: The use of incorrect fuel can result in serious damage to the equipment. If incorrect fuel is used, you will be liable for:

  • The Incorrect Fuel Fee (as outlined in our Fee Document).

  • Any additional costs associated with repairing the resulting damage.

  • The costs of transporting/towing the vehicle for repairs.

  • The potential loss of revenue associated with the vehicle being out of service.

Disputes

The meter readings recorded at pick-up and return, alongside the supporting photographic evidence, constitute the basis for all generator charges. Any dispute regarding these charges will be subject to review by our Support Team, and you may be required to provide adequate supporting documentation according to our standard Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedures.
