Truma CP Plus panel — gas / ignition error (heater won't light)

If your CP Plus screen shows 112, 121, 122, 202, 211, 212, 408, 507, 516 or 517, the heater isn't getting the gas it needs to light. These are all gas/ignition faults with the same fix, so work through the checks below. This is one of the heater's fault signals — for background on operating the heater, see the CP Plus manual (attached at the bottom).

Your heater and fridge use far more gas than the hob — so "the stove still lights" doesn't mean there's enough gas, or gas pressure, for the heater. These codes can show while you can still cook

Work through these in order

  1. Check the bottle has gas. Low or empty is the most common cause — swap or refill it.
  2. Check the connection. Bottle connected properly, and the valve on top of the bottle fully open. If there's a black button on the gas hose, press it to clear any air lock after a bottle change.
  3. Open the internal gas valves. These are the manual shut-offs inside the van — usually under the kitchen sink or under a seat, depending on your model. They need to be fully open, matching the sticker.
  4. Cold weather? This is the usual culprit. If the bottle still has gas but you're getting one of these codes when it's cold out, the gas may be too cold to vaporize (this happens with butane).
  5. Clear the code. Tap the rotary knob to confirm and delete the fault — the first tap may only wake the screen's backlight, so tap again. Then leave everything set for 15–20 minutes to let the heater relight and warm up.

About codes 507 / 516 / 517 — the 15-minute lock

These three work differently. If one is flashing, the heater is in a 15-minute safety lockout — usually because the panel was switched off, the 12 V supply was interrupted, or the code was deleted four or more times without gas being restored. Switching the panel off and on won't clear it and can restart the timer. So:

  • Leave the panel on and powered — don't switch it off or cut the power.
  • Wait out the ~15 minutes. When the lockout ends, the code stops flashing and shows steady.
  • Now delete it once (step 5). Don't keep deleting it — that just re-triggers the lock.
