Are campsites or campground stays included in the rental?

No — campsites and campground fees are not included in your rental. You book and pay for overnight stays directly, and you're free to choose where you stay each night.

Your rental covers the campervan and its equipment. Where you park or pitch overnight is yours to decide, so those costs sit with you — which also means your route and your budget stay entirely in your hands.

You're not required to use paid campsites. Many travelers mix things up: paid sites when they want hook-ups, showers, or water and waste services, and free or wild-camping spots where local rules allow. Prices for paid sites vary widely by country, season, and the services on offer, so it's worth checking a few options along your route before you set off.

Plan ahead in peak season. In summer and around holidays, popular campsites fill up fast — booking a day or two ahead saves you arriving to a full site at the end of a long drive.

To help you plan where to stay:

  • Map your overnight stops with our road trip planner.
  • Find sites and pitches on the go with our recommended camping apps.
  • See where to find campsites, refill water, and dispose of waste in our campground and travel planning guide.
